Total Rehabilitation - Sports Massage

Sports Massage

Sports Massage is a special form of massage and is typically used before, during, and after athletic events.

The purpose of the massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries.

Sports Massage is a type of Swedish Massage that stimulates circulation of blood and lymph fluids.

Sports Massage has many benefits. In addition to feeling good, it reduces the heart rate and blood pressure, increases blood circulation and lymph flow, reduces muscle tension, improves flexibility, and relieves pain.

Overuse of a specific group of muscles through repetitive exercise will result in aches and pains, especially after a particularly hard training session.

This can be helped and prevented by a regular Sports Massage.

This treatment breaks down scar tissue and removes the build up of toxins, improves mobility and reduces the risk of further injury.

Using a mixture of deep and powerful strokes, blood and lymph flow is encouraged to carry damaged tissue away from problem areas.

A Sports Massage is sometimes not as relaxing as say, an Aromatherapy Massage, since it aims to stretch and loosen muscles which need attention or which have sustained injury.
